BIOGRAPHY

Anastasia (Ana) King received their BFA in 3-Dimensional studies with a minor in Art History in 2024 from the University of Toledo. Born in Toledo, Ohio, Ana grew up in the suburbs of Chicago with her Russian immigrant mother. As a semi-first-generation Russian American, identity is very important to Ana. Being queer and gender non-conforming, Ana’s work explores how to express such big ideas of identity and inner-turmoil in both representational and abstract works.
While Ana occasionally works in painting, printmaking, and sculpting, their main passion is in ceramics. Ana has received a second place prize at the University of Toledo’s 2024 Juried Student Exhibition and was a hand-selected artist to be part of a 4-person recent graduate exhibition, Expressive Reflections, in the second floor gallery of River House Arts in May 2024. They will also have pieces exhibited in the 80th Wabash Valley Exhibition in the Swope Art Museum, Terre Haute, Indiana and Queering Democracies in the Rochester Contemporary Arts Center, Rochester, New York in October 2024.
